They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.

Position Summary

The Academic Manager within Athlete Engagement is responsible for managing and coordinating academic support programs designed to enhance the university experience for student-athletes. This role involves overseeing initiatives that promote student-athlete engagement with academic resources, study groups, and tutoring programs, ensuring that student-athletes maintain a balance between their athletic commitments and academic responsibilities. The Academic Manager collaborates with academic advisors, coaches, and other departments to support student-athletes in achieving academic success while navigating the unique challenges they face. In addition to academic support, the Academic Manager plays a key role in fostering opportunities for student-athletes to participate in community service, leadership development, and extracurricular activities that enhance their personal growth. This includes developing and implementing programs that allow student-athletes to engage in service projects, community outreach, and leadership roles within student organizations. These programs not only support student-athletes in their academic journey but also encourage them to contribute to the university community, promoting a well-rounded college experience. The Academic Manager is also responsible for supervising a team of support staff, ensuring the effective delivery of services and programs to student-athletes. This includes providing mentorship, conducting evaluations, and developing training plans to ensure that the team is equipped to meet the diverse needs of student-athletes. The manager is also accountable for assessing the effectiveness of engagement programs, making improvements, and ensuring alignment with the broader goals of student-athlete services. Through leadership and collaboration, the Academic Manager contributes to creating a supportive environment that empowers student-athletes to succeed both academically and personally.
