General Consultant, Operations

Operations
Operations is responsible for cross-functional management and administration of an organizations resources, including but not limited to finance, processes and operations, human capital, facilities, equipment, systems, and communication. Conducts the daily operations of an organizational or academic unit, which may include budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling. Business operations professionals gather and analyze data to construct key performance indicators to monitor and improve performance and reinforce strategic decision making.

Position Summary

The General Consultant of Operations is an advanced-level professional who provides high-level expertise and strategic recommendations to improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness of university departments and units. This individual contributor role involves analyzing complex operational processes across various functions, including finance, human capital, systems, facilities, and communication, to identify inefficiencies and propose data-driven solutions. The consultant works independently and in collaboration with leadership teams to optimize resources, enhance organizational performance, and align operations with the institution’s strategic objectives. As a key advisor, the General Consultant will conduct in-depth analysis of current operational practices, help in the development of key performance indicators (KPIs), and assess operational risks. They will provide strategic guidance on budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling, ensuring that operations are streamlined and aligned with overall business goals. The consultant may also offer advice on process redesign, change management, and project management best practices, supporting both short-term and long-term operational improvements. The General Consultant of Operations also serves as a mentor to junior staff or teams, offering leadership and guidance while facilitating professional development. This position requires strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills to navigate complex challenges, influence decision-making, and implement effective solutions across multiple functional areas. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in operations management, a deep understanding of business processes, and the ability to lead operational improvements independently.
