General Manager, Operations

Operations
Operations is responsible for cross-functional management and administration of an organizations resources, including but not limited to finance, processes and operations, human capital, facilities, equipment, systems, and communication. Conducts the daily operations of an organizational or academic unit, which may include budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling. Business operations professionals gather and analyze data to construct key performance indicators to monitor and improve performance and reinforce strategic decision making.
Management / Leadership
Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.

Position Summary

The General Manager of Operations is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and strategic implementation within a department or unit, ensuring efficient and effective management of resources, processes, and personnel. This managerial role involves coordinating multiple functions such as finance, budgeting, forecasting, human capital management, and facilities to meet the organization's operational objectives. The General Manager will lead a team of professionals and support staff, providing both direction and support to ensure that team goals align with the broader strategic vision of the organization. In this position, the General Manager of Operations will have full responsibility for team performance, including setting clear goals, monitoring progress, and making data-driven decisions based on key performance indicators (KPIs). The role also includes overseeing the development and execution of strategies within the unit, driving improvements in operational efficiency, and ensuring that all operations are compliant with regulatory standards. Additionally, the General Manager will manage staffing, including conducting performance evaluations, making recommendations for hiring and termination, and handling disciplinary actions when necessary. They will also be responsible for resource allocation and budgeting, ensuring that the department’s resources are used optimally and that financial targets are met. This position will require close collaboration with other departments and leaders to ensure the smooth flow of operations and alignment with institutional goals. The ideal candidate for the General Manager of Operations position will have a strong background in operational management, excellent leadership abilities, and a strategic mindset.
