Senior General Coordinator, Community Engagement

Community Engagement works collaboratively with and through groups of people affiliated by geographic proximity, special interest, or similar situations to address issues affecting the well-being of those people in order to bring about environmental and behavioral changes that will improve the community and its members. It often involves partnerships and coalitions that help mobilize resources and influence systems, change relationships among partners, and serve as catalysts for changing policies, programs, and practices.

Position Summary

The Senior General Coordinator of Community Engagement plays a key role in enhancing and executing the university’s community engagement initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, and fostering meaningful, long-lasting relationships with external and internal stakeholders. This position involves overseeing and leading high-level community-focused programs and events designed to advance the university’s mission and strengthen its connection to the surrounding community. As a senior individual contributor, the coordinator will independently manage large-scale initiatives, oversee complex projects, and provide strategic direction for various community engagement efforts. This role will also require the coordination and integration of resources, support, and volunteers, as well as the analysis of engagement outcomes to ensure effectiveness and the development of actionable improvements. Key responsibilities include managing community partnerships, spearheading community engagement strategies, collaborating with university leadership, external organizations, and local partners, and ensuring the successful execution of high-profile events and programs. Additionally, the Senior General Coordinator will lead efforts to evaluate the impact of engagement activities, using data and feedback to drive improvements and to align community engagement with the broader university objectives. This position will also mentor and guide junior coordinators or support staff, providing leadership and expertise in program design, community outreach, and event execution. The role requires a high degree of independence, with the ability to make decisions and recommendations that directly impact the success of the community engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in community engagement, project management, and strategic planning, with the ability to balance multiple complex tasks while delivering results. Strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and the ability to build consensus across diverse groups are essential for this position. This is a senior-level role, ideal for someone with a proven track record in community engagement and a passion for fostering collaboration that enhances the university’s standing and impact in the community.
