Campus Planning defines the land use, urban design, open space, density, and circulation networks as a comprehensive and planned system. Develop planning and urban design guidelines, evaluate land use and siting decisions, establish parameters for campus development sites.

Position Summary

The General Coordinator within Campus Planning plays a key role in supporting the university’s efforts to develop and maintain a well-organized, functional, and sustainable campus environment. Working under Campus Operations, this position assists in the planning, design, installation, and construction services that shape Virginia Tech’s physical spaces. The General Coordinator helps manage the ongoing operation and maintenance of the university's physical environment, ensuring that the campus facilities are aligned with the strategic goals of the institution. In the area of Campus Planning, the General Coordinator contributes to the development of land use, urban design, open space, and circulation networks that create a cohesive and integrated campus. This role involves supporting the creation of planning and urban design guidelines, as well as evaluating land use and siting decisions to ensure they meet the long-term needs of the university. The General Coordinator may assist in establishing parameters for campus development sites, ensuring that planning processes are effectively executed. As an intermediate-level individual contributor, the General Coordinator’s role requires some experience and education but focuses on supporting more senior staff and teams in executing planning initiatives. This position is not expected to act independently but plays a vital role in assisting with the coordination of projects, providing support, and helping to ensure that campus planning efforts are carried out efficiently and in line with established guidelines. The General Coordinator is expected to work closely with other departments, offering insights and assistance to contribute to the university’s planning and development goals.
