Facilities Management is responsible for coordinating multiple disciplines to ensure optimal operation and maintenance of the buildings, grounds, and facilities of the institution. Responsibilities typically span across construction, remodeling, renovation, and maintenance. Duties may require the incumbent to estimate cost of projects, write contracts, negotiate, and secure bids from contractors, and determine labor, materials, and equipment needed to complete projects.

Position Summary

The Senior Analyst within Facilities Management at Virginia Tech plays a critical role in supporting the university's operations and maintenance of its physical infrastructure. This position requires advanced knowledge and experience in facilities management, construction, renovation, and ongoing maintenance processes. The Senior Analyst works independently and leads or coordinates efforts to assess and optimize the university’s buildings, grounds, and facilities to ensure they operate at peak efficiency and meet the university's operational goals. In this role, the Senior Analyst is responsible for providing detailed analysis and strategic recommendations on facility projects, including cost estimation, resource planning, and project execution. The individual will be involved in developing and reviewing contracts, negotiating with contractors, and ensuring that labor, materials, and equipment are properly allocated to meet project requirements. The Senior Analyst will also help monitor the progress of construction and renovation efforts, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and according to university standards. This position involves independent decision-making and the ability to provide leadership and guidance to other team members or junior analysts. The Senior Analyst will often serve as an authority on specific facilities management processes or areas of expertise, ensuring that all activities are compliant with university policies and regulations. In addition to technical tasks, the Senior Analyst is responsible for creating and maintaining detailed documentation, tracking performance metrics, and preparing reports for university leadership, which may include senior management or executive teams. Through effective analysis and leadership, the Senior Analyst supports the continuous improvement of facilities management practices, contributing to a safe, sustainable, and high-functioning campus environment. The role demands strong problem-solving skills, a high level of autonomy, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the university's facilities are well-maintained and aligned with its strategic goals.
