General Consultant, Budgeting

Budgeting
Budgeting prepares, plans, compiles, and reviews the budgets for university departments, taking into consideration actual performance, previous expenditures, and estimated expenses and income. Prepares reports for the comparison between the current situation and budgeted forecast. Maintains accurate spending records and establishes measures for budgetary control. Analyzes budget requirements for specific projects or departments encompassing short-term or long-term time periods.

Position Summary

The General Consultant within Budgeting plays a critical role in providing advanced expertise and guidance for the university’s budgeting processes. This position involves independently leading and advising on complex budgeting tasks, ensuring financial planning and analysis across departments align with institutional goals and objectives. The General Consultant works closely with senior leadership to develop, implement, and refine budgeting strategies and processes for both short-term and long-term financial planning. Key responsibilities include providing expert analysis and recommendations for budget preparation, assisting with the creation of financial forecasts, and reviewing departmental budgets to ensure they reflect actual performance, estimated expenses, and income. The General Consultant will also prepare and present detailed reports comparing actual financial performance with budgeted forecasts, identifying areas of concern, and suggesting corrective actions. Additionally, the role includes developing and maintaining budgetary controls and establishing best practices for monitoring and managing departmental expenditures. In addition to providing strategic insights, the General Consultant will mentor and support junior staff, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring the application of sound financial principles. They will lead projects related to budgeting and financial analysis, working independently and in collaboration with other departments to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data. This advanced position requires extensive experience in financial analysis, budget preparation, and strategic financial planning, as well as the ability to influence and lead teams. The General Consultant acts as a subject matter expert, providing leadership and support across the organization to ensure budgeting processes meet the university’s financial objectives.
