General Consultant, Finance

Finance is responsible for the financial activities of the university, from transaction processing to complex financial analysis and strategic planning. This typically includes accounting, budgeting, financial forecasting and analysis, tax analysis and compliance, billing and collections, investment management, cash and debt management, and insurance.

Individual contributor roles are reflected in the Academic Administration, Development, General Administration, Technical/STEM, and C1-C4 of the Clinical tracks.

Position Summary

The General Consultant within Finance is an advanced-level position that requires a deep understanding of financial processes and expertise in financial management, analysis, and strategic planning. In this role, the consultant serves as an expert in various financial areas, providing specialized advice and insights to support the university's financial operations and decision-making. The General Consultant works independently, leveraging their extensive knowledge to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and make recommendations that drive improved financial performance and strategy. This position involves advising on key financial initiatives, such as budgeting, financial forecasting, risk management, and compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations. The General Consultant is also responsible for providing expert guidance on financial systems, processes, and best practices, ensuring the efficient and effective management of the university's finances. As a subject matter expert, the consultant may be called upon to lead or contribute to projects related to financial planning, investment management, cash flow management, and other critical areas of the finance function. Additionally, the General Consultant may provide mentorship and leadership to less experienced team members, helping to foster a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment. This role requires significant independence and the ability to make high-level recommendations that impact the financial health and strategic direction of the university. The General Consultant is expected to balance competing priorities, work under tight deadlines, and deliver high-quality work while maintaining a strategic perspective on long-term financial goals. This position demands strong leadership, advanced financial acumen, and the ability to influence decision-making at all levels of the organization, while providing valuable insights that contribute to the university's financial stability and growth.
