They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.

Manager: Responsible for leading a team of professionals and/or support employees. Has full responsibility for team output. Focuses on implementing and executing strategies within their own department or team.

Position Summary

The General Manager within Inclusion and Diversity is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of strategies that foster an inclusive and equitable organizational culture. The role involves leading initiatives across the university that ensure all members are treated fairly and fully contribute to the university’s mission. The General Manager works closely with senior leadership to define and align diversity and inclusion goals with the institution’s values, ensuring that these initiatives are effectively integrated into all areas of the university’s operations. As a manager, this position has direct responsibility for a team of professionals and support employees working in the inclusion and diversity space. The General Manager sets clear goals and objectives for the team, ensures that resources are properly allocated, and holds team members accountable for their performance and productivity. They provide guidance, support, and mentorship to team members while fostering a collaborative and positive work environment. Additionally, the General Manager ensures the alignment of the team’s output with university-wide diversity and inclusion strategies and works with leadership to continually refine these efforts. In addition to overseeing the daily operations of the inclusion and diversity team, the General Manager is responsible for long-term strategic planning, including setting goals, developing policies, and implementing programs that enhance diversity and inclusion across the university. The role requires expertise in managing diverse teams, creating actionable plans, and driving measurable outcomes. Through strong leadership and strategic vision, the General Manager ensures that inclusion and diversity initiatives are not only successfully executed but also evolve to meet the changing needs of the university community.
