Compliance Services ensures the universitys compliance with regulatory and quality standards and fosters a culture of integrity. Works with colleges and units to develop and implement internal controls, processes, and programs that access and enhance compliance. May engage with regulatory commissions and authorities or advance university positions with external and internal stakeholders.

Position Summary

The Senior General Consultant within Compliance Services serves as a leading expert in ensuring the university’s compliance with regulatory and quality standards. This expert-level position involves providing high-level advisory services on complex compliance matters to senior leadership, departments, and external stakeholders. The consultant leverages extensive experience to lead and shape the development, implementation, and evaluation of internal controls, policies, and procedures that are essential for the university’s adherence to legal, regulatory, and ethical obligations. This role requires strategic thinking and the ability to influence organizational direction regarding compliance initiatives at a university-wide scale. In addition to advising on compliance strategy, the Senior General Consultant plays a pivotal role in engaging with regulatory bodies and other external authorities. They represent the university’s interests in external interactions, ensuring alignment with compliance expectations and advancing the university’s position in various regulatory discussions. Internally, they collaborate across colleges, units, and departments to foster a culture of compliance and integrity, ensuring that compliance measures are not only implemented but also continuously improved to meet evolving standards and regulations. The consultant leads complex risk assessments and serves as a primary resource for navigating complex legal and compliance challenges. The Senior General Consultant is recognized as an expert within the organization, contributing significantly to its overall compliance posture. They take a leadership role in mentoring less experienced staff, offering guidance on compliance best practices, and providing expert-level training. Their work impacts university operations, ensuring that all departments operate in a manner that mitigates risks and promotes ethical conduct. This role requires exceptional communication and leadership skills, as the Senior General Consultant is frequently called upon to make strategic decisions that influence the university's long-term compliance and regulatory standing.
