Position Summary

The General Coordinator within Archives plays an essential role in supporting the management and stewardship of both physical and digital archival materials. Working as part of a team, the coordinator helps in the preservation, assessment, and organization of permanent records and historically significant materials. This includes implementing archival policies, supporting cataloging and digitization efforts, and ensuring that both academic and public users have access to the materials they need for research, teaching, and learning. The position is integral to the overall function of the archives by maintaining organized systems for managing archival collections. In this position, the General Coordinator will assist with the preservation of archival materials by ensuring that they are stored and handled according to established best practices. The role involves evaluating materials for their historical value, assessing collection needs, and supporting the development of systems for managing these records in both physical and digital formats. The coordinator works closely with archival staff to ensure that policies regarding access, stewardship, and security of the collections are followed and that appropriate workflows are in place to manage these assets efficiently. The General Coordinator also serves as a point of contact for both internal and external users, helping to facilitate access to materials, answering inquiries, and providing guidance on archival procedures. This individual will collaborate with other departments and library services to promote the value and accessibility of archival materials. While this position requires some degree of independence, it is primarily a supportive role where the coordinator actively contributes to the daily operations of the archives, bringing together knowledge of archival theory with hands-on practice. The General Coordinator will help ensure that the archives remain accessible, well-preserved, and managed according to professional standards.
