Digitization is responsible for digitization of collections in a wide range of formats. Enables appropriate management and stewardship of digital objects to promote accessibility that meet continually evolving standards and specifications for imaging and related metadata creation. May include contributions to overall digitization strategy and policies.

Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 2
Manager: Responsible for leading a team of professionals and/or support employees. Has full responsibility for team output. Focuses on implementing and executing strategies within their own department or team.

Position Summary

The General Manager within Digitization leads the strategic planning and daily operations of the digitization unit, supporting Library Services' mission to enhance academic teaching, learning, and research through expanded access to digital collections. This position oversees the conversion of a wide range of physical materials into high-quality digital objects, ensuring compliance with current standards for imaging, metadata creation, and digital preservation. The General Manager plays a key role in shaping and executing digitization strategies that align with institutional priorities and emerging technologies. This role has full accountability for managing a team of professionals and support staff engaged in digitization activities, including scheduling, project coordination, equipment oversight, and quality assurance. The General Manager develops and enforces workflows that support timely and accurate digitization efforts while managing vendor relationships and technical infrastructure. Additionally, the role contributes to the development of digitization policies and ensures the consistent application of best practices to support long-term digital asset stewardship and accessibility. As a Level 2 Manager within the General Administration track, the General Manager is responsible for the performance, development, and productivity of the digitization team. This includes setting team goals, overseeing hiring processes, conducting performance evaluations, and managing resource allocation. The position requires a strong combination of technical expertise, administrative leadership, and strategic vision to support the evolving needs of the library and its users, ensuring that digital initiatives continue to meet the highest standards of quality and accessibility.
