Position Summary

The Academic Coordinator within Academic Affairs plays an essential role in supporting students through their academic journey by coordinating various academic programs and services. Working closely with faculty, staff, and students, the coordinator is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of academic initiatives, such as first-year experience programs, tutoring services, skills workshops, and learning centers. They assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of these programs to help students enhance their academic skills and succeed in their studies. The role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. In addition to program coordination, the Academic Coordinator provides direct support to students, offering guidance on academic policies, procedures, and available resources. They assist in organizing events and workshops, such as orientation sessions, academic support workshops, and study skill seminars, helping to create a supportive and engaging learning environment. The coordinator may also track student progress, collect feedback, and make recommendations to improve academic services and student support programs. They collaborate with other student services units to ensure that students have access to a comprehensive set of resources to foster academic success. Although the Academic Coordinator does not act independently in a leadership capacity, they contribute significantly to the execution and administration of academic support initiatives. This role requires a strong understanding of academic processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team. The Academic Coordinator plays a critical role in helping students develop the skills they need to navigate their academic journey and succeed at the university level.
