Position Summary

The Senior Clinical Consultant within Counseling and Mental Health is an expert-level role that combines advanced clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities. This position is essential in shaping and enhancing the mental health services offered across the organization. The Senior Clinical Consultant will provide specialized guidance and strategic recommendations, helping to optimize clinical practices, improve patient outcomes, and implement evidence-based interventions. With an extensive background in counseling and mental health, they will oversee complex clinical cases, offering expert consultation to healthcare professionals and ensuring that all services meet the highest standards of care and regulatory requirements. In addition to direct patient care consultation, the Senior Clinical Consultant will be responsible for leading and mentoring clinical teams. This includes providing supervision, training, and ongoing professional development opportunities for junior clinicians. They will take the lead in developing and refining clinical protocols, identifying opportunities for program improvements, and driving the adoption of new therapeutic approaches. The Senior Clinical Consultant will collaborate closely with leadership teams to align mental health services with organizational goals and will play a critical role in policy development, quality assurance, and strategic planning efforts. This role requires the ability to influence decisions and practices that have a broad impact across the organization. As an expert with a university-wide scope of influence, the Senior Clinical Consultant will also contribute to the development of organizational initiatives aimed at improving mental health awareness, access to care, and patient engagement. They will represent the mental health department in key organizational meetings, acting as an authority on mental health topics and clinical strategies. This role demands a high degree of autonomy, advanced clinical judgment, and the ability to lead teams through complex challenges. The Senior Clinical Consultant will be instrumental in shaping the future of counseling and mental health services, ensuring that they remain innovative, effective, and responsive to the needs of the community.
