Oversees day-to-day residence experiences, operations, and functions for students living on campus and in university-owned properties. Develops a student community that is inclusive, academically and socially stimulating, and ensures student well-being and safety.

Position Summary

The Senior Academic Coordinator within Residence Life is a key leadership role that combines student services expertise with a focus on fostering an inclusive and academically enriching living environment for students. This position is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of residence life programs that support both student development and academic success. The Senior Academic Coordinator works closely with residence life staff, faculty, and other campus stakeholders to create a living-learning environment that promotes student well-being, engagement, and academic achievement within university housing. In addition to managing day-to-day operations, the Senior Academic Coordinator ensures that residence life programs align with the institution’s broader goals for student engagement, retention, and success. This includes overseeing academic support initiatives within residence halls, such as tutoring, study groups, and faculty-student interactions, as well as organizing extracurricular activities that contribute to a well-rounded student experience. The Senior Academic Coordinator also plays a vital role in the development of strategies for responding to student needs, conducting assessments, and making data-driven recommendations for program improvements. As an experienced professional, the Senior Academic Coordinator is expected to work independently, taking initiative in the creation and execution of residence life programs and services. They will also provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced staff and student leaders, supporting their professional growth and ensuring alignment with department goals. The role requires a combination of strong organizational skills, leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of student development and academic support, with the ability to handle complex student issues and collaborate effectively across multiple university departments.
