Military Affairs is responsible for serving the universitys military student community. Collaborates with university partners to ensure military and veteran dependents are connected to the financial, academic, and social resources necessary for a successful transition to and through their course of study at the university.

Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 2
Manager: Responsible for leading a team of professionals and/or support employees. Has full responsibility for team output. Focuses on implementing and executing strategies within their own department or team.

Position Summary

The Academic Manager within Military Affairs provides leadership and direction for programs and services that support the university’s military-affiliated student population, including active-duty service members, veterans, and their families. As part of the Student Services and Student Affairs divisions, this role ensures that military-connected students are guided through a successful transition into academic life and are supported throughout their educational journey. The manager develops and implements strategies that address the unique academic, financial, and social needs of this population while aligning with the broader goals of student retention and success. This position oversees the coordination of services that connect military-affiliated students to essential university resources such as academic advising, financial aid, counseling, and student engagement opportunities. The Academic Manager builds strong partnerships with internal departments and external organizations, including government agencies and veteran support networks, to ensure compliance with military education benefits and to advocate for student needs. Additionally, the manager is responsible for developing programming, events, and initiatives that foster a sense of belonging and community among military students, while also promoting leadership, self-development, and academic achievement. At the M2 level in the academic administration and management track, the Academic Manager is accountable for the performance and output of a team of professionals and support staff. This includes setting department goals, managing workflows, conducting staff evaluations, and overseeing the execution of operational plans. The manager ensures that staff are trained, supported, and working effectively to meet departmental and institutional objectives. This role requires a collaborative, student-centered leader who understands the military student experience and can implement targeted strategies that drive student engagement, academic progress, and long-term success.
