Student Services is responsible for the management and administration of work in multiple student services specialties, including but not limited to academic advising, career services, admissions, financial aid, student advocacy and support, health and wellness services, student engagement and development, learning support services, and housing and residential life.
Management / Leadership
Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 1
Supervisor: Supervises experienced administrative, operative, and/or technical roles. Coordinates schedules and workflow for the team. Focuses on team completion of assignments and is responsible for ensuring the orientation and training of employees.

Position Summary

The Academic Supervisor within Student Services provides direct oversight and coordination of daily operations that support a range of student-focused programs and services. This role plays an integral part in delivering front-line support across one or more specialties within Student Services, including areas such as academic advising, student engagement, learning support, or wellness. The supervisor ensures that students receive timely, effective, and developmentally appropriate guidance and resources that promote their academic success and personal growth. As part of the academic administration track, the supervisor works closely with students, staff, and campus partners to ensure the seamless delivery of services that support the full student life cycle—from admission through graduation. The role supports the implementation of institutional goals related to student retention, satisfaction, and success, while also helping to identify areas for service improvement and innovation. By maintaining strong relationships with both students and professional staff, the supervisor ensures that student needs are met with care, consistency, and professionalism. At the M1 level in the management/leadership track, this position is responsible for supervising a team of administrative or program staff. The Academic Supervisor manages daily workflow, schedules, orientation, and training for new team members, while also supporting the professional development and performance of current staff. The role requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, a commitment to student success, and the ability to lead a team toward the completion of shared goals. This position provides a critical link between frontline service delivery and the broader strategic direction of the student services unit.
