Student Services is responsible for the management and administration of work in multiple student services specialties, including but not limited to academic advising, career services, admissions, financial aid, student advocacy and support, health and wellness services, student engagement and development, learning support services, and housing and residential life.
Management / Leadership
Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 2
Manager: Responsible for leading a team of professionals and/or support employees. Has full responsibility for team output. Focuses on implementing and executing strategies within their own department or team.

Position Summary

The Academic Manager of Student Services is responsible for overseeing and managing a team of professionals who provide a wide range of academic and student support services. This includes academic advising, career services, student advocacy, and other student-facing roles. The manager plays a key role in ensuring the effective delivery of student services by coordinating team efforts, setting clear goals, and managing resources to meet student needs and institutional objectives. By fostering a collaborative and supportive environment, the Academic Manager helps ensure that the services provided contribute to the academic and personal success of students. As part of their leadership responsibilities, the Academic Manager supervises a team of student services professionals, ensuring that all team members are well-trained, motivated, and equipped to meet the needs of the student body. This includes coordinating work schedules, setting priorities, and evaluating team performance. The manager is responsible for conducting performance reviews, providing feedback, and guiding professional development opportunities for staff. Additionally, the manager will participate in the recruitment and hiring process, provide input for staff development plans, and ensure that team members are compliant with institutional policies and best practices. In addition to day-to-day operations, the Academic Manager works closely with other departments and university leadership to ensure that student services align with broader institutional goals. They are responsible for implementing strategies to improve service delivery, streamline processes, and enhance student experiences. The manager also monitors and reports on key performance metrics, collaborates with other departments to solve complex problems, and ensures that student support services are accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the evolving needs of the student population. Ultimately, the Academic Manager ensures that Student Services are provided in a way that enhances the academic success, well-being, and overall development of students.
